131 MAIN is a Blakeney dinner option for steaks, seafood and American dishes cooked over a hickory wood fire. The covered porch and fire pit give you another way to enjoy the evening. Dining-room reservations are available through Resy; the bar and patio take guests first come, first served. The restaurant is cashless, so bring a credit or debit card.
300 East has been serving East Boulevard in Dilworth for more than 35 years, in the Street Car Station Shops. The kitchen works seasonally with an emphasis on seafood and local sourcing. It runs weekend brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is patio seating, weather permitting, and patio tables cannot be reserved. Guy Fieri filmed it for the Indulgent Dishes episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
Abugida is a family-run Ethiopian room on Central Avenue that describes itself simply as a 'Family owned authentic Ethiopian restaurant'. The food is eaten the traditional way, scooped with injera rather than cutlery, and the kitchen keeps a wide range of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free dishes on the board because Ethiopian fasting cooking is built that way. The cafe also serves a full coffee ceremony, poured at the table with frankincense burning alongside it.
Alexander Michael's has been a Fourth Ward neighborhood tavern since 1983, inside the brick Crowell-Berryhill Store that opened in 1897. The room kept pieces of Charlotte with it: the bar and back bar were made from solid oak doors taken from the old Independence Building, and the beer cooler came from a Charlotte grocery store around 1920. Come for a burger, a beer and a building that survived when much of the neighborhood did not.

Bruce Moffett's first restaurant, open in the Foxcroft East shopping center since 2000 and named after Barrington, the Rhode Island town he grew up in. It is a small New American room and the anchor of Moffett Restaurant Group. Moffett was a James Beard nominee for Best Chef in America in 2009.
A South Boulevard steakhouse open since 1958, which makes it one of the oldest restaurants still running in Charlotte. It is dine-in only ... no delivery, no takeout ... and the room has kept its low light and red booths. Its own site leads with steaks, service and the wine list.
Bonterra is a restaurant and wine room inside a converted church at Cleveland and East Worthington in Dilworth. The building went up in the late 1800s as Atherton Methodist Church, the first permanent place of worship in the area, got its brick exterior in 1914 and was renamed Dilworth Methodist Episcopal Church South. It later housed the First Church of Nazareth and Greater Providence Baptist Church before it became a restaurant. Chef Blake Hartwick cooks classic American food from local farms and says he wants the food to speak for itself. The wine room and cellar host wine pairing dinners, and the phone number spells out 704-333-WINE.
A Ballantyne Village steakhouse serving USDA Prime beef, seafood and a wine and cocktail list, open daily from 3:30 in the afternoon. Its own site says menu and sourcing decisions are made in the building, and it runs a monthly jazz night.
Live music some nights. Go before the band starts if you want to talk.
El Puro serves upscale Cuban food with cocktails and live entertainment on South Boulevard, in a room styled after 1950s pre-revolutionary Havana. There is a stage and a dancefloor. It runs to midnight on Friday and Saturday and is closed on Mondays.

Go early. It turns into a late-night spot later in the evening.
McNinch House serves dinner inside an 1892 Fourth Ward mansion that looks like part of the occasion. The Queen Anne and Shingle-style house carries towers, gables, porches, patterned slate and ten tiled fireplaces. Ellen Davis spent a decade restoring it before opening the restaurant in 1989. Reservations are accepted Tuesday through Saturday.
Middle C Jazz is a jazz club on South Brevard Street in Uptown that calls itself an intimate New York style club with Southern hospitality. The kitchen is run by Dressler's Improv Kitchen and serves small plates alongside the cocktail list. The room books mainstream, smooth, contemporary, R&B and funk players and has hosted Chris Botti, Curtis Salgado and Karen Briggs. Downbeat named it one of the World's Great Jazz Venues in 2026 and the Charlotte Observer named it Best Live Music Venue in 2024 and 2025.

Restaurant Constance sits on Thrift Road in Wesley Heights and runs ten tables at a time, with seatings held to about ninety minutes. Its own site describes it as 'an intimate, community-focused restaurant where the seasons write the menus', farmer-focused and committed to local flavors. It is MICHELIN Recommended in the inaugural MICHELIN Guide American South selection announced 3 November 2025. The room is credit card only ... no cash, no checks.
Sophia's Lounge is the bar inside The Ivey's Hotel on North Tryon in Uptown, in a room the hotel describes as high-design opulence with vintage panache and European flair. It serves crafted cocktails, sharable plates and desserts, and it runs to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. Charlotte Magazine named it Best Upscale Cocktail Bar.

The Fig Tree is a white-tablecloth restaurant inside the restored 1913 Lucas House in Elizabeth. Husband-and-wife owners Greg and Sara Zanitsch have run it here since 2005, with seasonal French and Italian influences, a deep wine list and an elk chop that has stayed on the menu for more than fifteen years. The veranda and residential-size rooms make dinner feel like a special occasion without pretending the building was ever anything but a house.
